The School of Business and Humanities consists of three Departments: Business Studies, Humanities, Art and Design.

The School of Business and Humanities offers a wide range of courses at National Certificate, National Diploma and degree levels. These cover all aspects of business studies with specialisations in accountancy, marketing, property management, office systems management, personnel and agri-business. Since its inception, the School has sought excellence in all courses as well as the inculcation of enterprise skills. The School has an outstanding record in the Student Enterprise Awards Scheme, organised by the Industrial Development Authority (now Forbairt): overall winners in 1990; runners up on three occasions; winners of the prestigious Price Waterhouse/Craig Gardner award for excellence in business financing on three occasions and winners of the Donnelly Mirrors Award for the best technical project. In addition, students from the School have won national awards in areas like marketing, office management and management information systems. All courses in the school are under constant review and are regularly updated and developed. The number of students in the School has tripled over the last decade, and it is now one of the largest business schools in the country.

Close links have been established with industrial, commercial, private sector organisations, public sector organisations and all relevant professional bodies at local, regional and national levels. Staff are actively involved in all these areas. The School has several student exchange programmes in operation with similar educational institutions in Germany, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Denmark, UK and Greece.

The Business Studies courses are designed to prepare students for rewarding and challenging careers in the accounting, administrative and management functions of industry, commerce, private sector services and the public service. The Department of Humanities runs two courses: The National Certificate in Heritage Studies and The National Diploma in Humanities - Video Production as well as providing a service to all college schools in languages and general liberal studies.

Courses of study in Art and Design prepare students for career opportunities in teaching, design studios, industry and crafts.
